        If your eyes could only see,
                    the defective self inside of me.
        It fills my life with fear and debris;
                    My mournful soul cries to be free.

How long and how many times a week is a typical session?

Sessions are usually 50 minutes. Most clients are seen once a week. However, the number of sessions per week is flexible and is determined in collaboration with the client and depends on what the current needs suggest would be most therapeutic.

How long will I be in counseling?

The length of time a client is in counseling depends on the nature of the problem and the goals of the counseling. Some clients have a very specific problem that can be worked through in a set course of sessions. For many, counseling is an on-going learning and healing  process and they choose to receive counseling for a longer period.

How much are your fees and do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance.  I utilize a sliding scale based on a client's income to determine the fee for therapy.  It is my goal to work with each client to determine an amount that is fair and reasonable.  You can learn more about the fees and general payment policy during your initial free consultation.

Do I need to take medications?

You do not need to take medication and many people find medication helpful.  Based on a joint assessment of the symptoms you are experiencing, it may be advisable to  consult with a psychiatrist to determine whether medication is warranted.  Typically, clients see someone under their health insurance coverage.  If needed, you may obtain a referral from your primary care physician, you health insurance provider, or I can assist you with a referral to a psychiatrist.
